Locally rooted, globally connected
Tiberghien is firmly rooted locally with offices in Belgium (Antwerp, Brussels, Ghent, Hasselt) and Luxembourg and representation in Zurich and Geneva. We are close by and speak your language.
Does your question or problem transcend national borders? Thanks to our membership of the global WTS network and our formal and informal cooperation with leading offices abroad, we can support you in more than 100 countries.
Substantially big, sufficiently small
With more than 125 lawyers and experts, we have all the necessary knowledge to assist you in every area of tax and family planning, but we remain a human-sized company. You can count on a personal approach and our partners' commitment. This close relationship means you know and understand usand we know and understand you. It makes many of our clients continue to rely on us for years, and often for generations.
More than taxation
Taxation is our focus, and providing complete solutions is our goal. For each specific situation, we therefore assemble the appropriate team with the right expertise.
- We also take your family and inheritance matters to heart, with a dedicated team of civil law specialists.
- For the economic aspects (such as transfer pricing or valuations), the experts from Tiberghien economics complement our team, which guarantees advice that is both legally and economically sound.
- If your question includes other legal components, then we call in the right (inter)national expert. This is one major benefit of our independence and extensive network.
Independent, in your interest
Tiberghien is an independent firm. This allows us to always put your interests first and to engage the best-placed expert for each specific issue.
To avoid potential conflicts of interest, we carry out the necessary checks beforehand. For the same reason, we advise public authorities only in their capacity as taxpayers and not as tax collectors.
Pragmatic and academic
Pragmatic solutions that offer you certainty require in-depth knowledge. That is why we are academically anchored. Several of our lawyers hold positions at Belgian universities and regularly publish articles in professional journals. We work together with scientific advisers and professors on a structural basis. As a result, even your most complex questions will receive the appropriate answers.
Tiberghien is also responsible for the publication of some fundamental tax reference works:
- 'The Handbook of Tax Law', whose first edition Albert Tiberghien published in 1955, is revised annually by us and thus remains the absolute reference. It is a sustained effort that requires and enables us to keep a ‘close eye’ on tax legislation.
- The 'Vademecum Corporate Tax' has been kept up-to-date by Tiberghien lawyers since 2022.
Transparant and discreet
We advise prominent families and leading companies from various sectors. But we keep who they are to ourselves. Discretion is natural for us.
In our cooperation, on the other hand, we are completely transparent. You know where you stand at all times. To offer you pertinent advice, mutual openness is crucial. The information we share remains always and only between us.
Given that our mission is to assist you with top-notch advice, we spend a substantial part of our time keeping up-to-date. We share that knowledge and insight with our clients through newsletters, publications and seminars.
We closely monitor current tax issues and therefore know at an early stage which changes are imminent. As we also know our loyal clients inside-out, we can quickly assess the impact of each new regulation for them. Thanks to this vigilance, we protect you as a client from tax risks, today and tomorrow.
Tiberghien's quality has been repeatedly recognised and confirmed by independent, international organisations, with a Top Tier ranking by Legal 500, a Band 1 ranking by Chambers HNW, and a Band 2 ranking by Chambers Europe. We have achieved these positions thanks to our clients' appreciation of our lawyers' knowledge and expertise, and that encourages us to keep performing better.
Leading. Yesterday, today and tomorrow
Our story began in 1939 with Albert Tiberghien, the founder of tax law in Belgium. His influence on taxation was and still is ground-breaking. His legacy and entrepreneurial spirit are deeply rooted in our firm’s DNA. What started as a one-man business is today a firm with more than 125 experts. We cherish these solid foundations but look ahead and invest every day in knowledge, expertise and innovation, to continue to be the reference in the field of taxation and family (patrimonial) planning in the future.
