Stein obtained his Master’s degree in Law at Ghent University in 2008. He complemented his education in 2010 with a postgraduate Master in ‘Internacionalización económica’ at the University of Valencia (Spain).

Stein gained professional experience in the Spanish banking sector, before returning to Belgium as an indirect tax consultant, serving one of the 4 biggest consultancy firms in Belgium. In 2014, he joined Tiberghien and in 2019 he was appointed as a Counsel.

Stein has gained profound expertise in VAT, customs and excise duties. He is closely involved in M&A projects and specialises in VAT-issues related to the public and care sectors, real estate projects, public-private partnerships, import and export transactions, financial services, VAT audits and court cases. Furthermore, he has authored numerous VAT-related articles in tax newsletters.

Stein is fluent in Dutch, Spanish, English and French.
